The R & D Directorate was established in 1985 to increase the productivity and the quality of our Unions' products; to obtain products suitable to the human health and have high market value.

Functions of The R & D Directorate include conducting researches in agricultural, technological, scientific, economical and social fundamentals in order to increase the quality and the productivity of the products within the activity area of TARİŞ and to ensure quality assurance of its finished products, in addition to securing the producers' consciousness of the reality.

In order to increase the productivity and the quality of its products, TARİŞ has realized numerous research projects ever since the establishment date, for the solution of the problems faced during the stages of processing and sales of those products.


The unit has been formed with the purpose of increasing consciousness of the producers and thus ensuring the usage of correct and balanced fertilizers protecting the environment.

TARİŞ producers are informed about using correct and balanced fertilizers by SOIL-PLANT-WATER ANALYSIS LABORATORIES within our structure. Therefore, soil, plant and water samples obtained from the fields and yards of the producers are analyzed in our laboratories; results of those analysis are evaluated by our specialists and then the fertilizer recipes are prepared.


Certification studies are conducted in this Unit for cotton seeds produced by our Union, in order to present cotton seeds of better quality to the member producers.

This laboratory determines sprouting percentage of seeds produced by the entitled cooperatives for the forthcoming production season and sends the analysis reports to the relevant cooperatives.

Furthermore, chemical methods are studied in order to determine the seed viability easily and they are practiced in the delinting plant.


Activities are carried on with the aim of searching reasons of the problems about the plant cultivation, finding solutions thereof and conducting studies for the variety-productivity-trial-demonstration.

Searching new methods applicable to the diseases and the pests and practicing them under the producers' conditions for the maintenance of the productivity and the quality losses, are among the functions of the plant protection.


Only producing and selling the goods are not sufficient under the competition conditions of today. Food technology has been developing in line with all technological developments in the world. The limits of heavy metals, toxins, additives, pesticides, etc. acceptable by the countries for the food stuff are gradually reduced. Therefore, products are checked in every stage from the field to the consumer in the laboratories of R & D Management so that the products of TARİŞ members find their real place in the world markets.

Agricultural chemicals threaten the human health with both of their residues and the heavy metal content, if not used in proper dosages and time. The whole world have been acting increasingly more carefully about this matter and the residue limits of the agricultural chemicals and the heavy metals within the food stuff are being reduced day by day. Therefore it becomes an obligation to control the products. Specialist personnel working in the residue laboratory within the structure of our management effect the necessary residue analysis of the products produced in our plants.


Training of the Producers

Our producers are informed about the agricultural subjects every year, during the studies for determining the area of the field to be bought, the crop, the cost, the diseases and the pest condensation; through seminars, brochures and farmer letters, as well as the field and coffeehouse talks and also by being invited as guests both to the local and to the national radio and TV programs.

Training of the Cooperatives' Agricultural Engineers

The technical personnel of R & D management and the agricultural engineers in the cooperative areas meet for training purposes quarterly. During such meetings, concluded production years are evaluated, local problems and proposals for their solution are discussed, results of the latest researches are informed and innovations about the agricultural subjects are negotiated.


TARİŞ Delinting Plant

Lint consisting of some short fibers remain inside the seed of the seeded cotton after its fibers are extracted. This layer may be removed by means of mechanical or chemical process. R & D Management has conducted a study in 1985 and found out that seeds, from which fibers are removed through mechanical process, facilitate sowing and that they sprout earlier compared to the seeds including lint.

By this method the lint cannot be removed away completely and some cracks occur on the shell. Then studies were made to establish a plant in which the lint of seed could be removed through a chemical method, i.e. diluted acid. In 1996 the plant was established and put into operation in Söke.

TARİŞ-ZF Technical Cooperation for the Production of Leaf Fertilizers

TARİŞ-ZF Leaf Fertilizers containing well-balanced nutrients and being enriched with various micro-elements, liquid leaf fertilizers and humic acids are produced in cooperation with Aegean University Agricultural Faculty and are presented to the use of our members.
